The Vine project helps grandmothers who are responsible for their own orphaned grandchildren.

Using the traditional Zulu skill of bead making they have been encouraged to set themselves up as a co-operative. Everything is done according to the Fair Trade ethos. They meet every Friday to make their jewellery and at the same time support one another both emotionally and practically.

GranniesThe grannies are always looking for new ideas and recently began to think of small pouches

as mobile phone covers. These have proved very popular

Christmas Decorations

The grannies have been busy making beaded christmas decorations.

New Group

We are working with yet another group of grannies who do tradional bead work using larger beads.

We now have a grandad, Eric, who makes wire and bead animals and a number of other Zulu craft objects.
